A sports fan watching the darts at Alexandra Palace got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend in front of hundreds of fans and players.
His romantic gesture prompted professional players to burst into applause and laughter for the happy couple.
Live on Sky Sports on Wednesday, the audience member took his girlfriend’s hand and got down on one knee in front of a crowd at the World Championship Darts competition.
The woman, named Natasha, who perhaps didn’t expect to be proposed to at the darts, seemed taken aback before she said yes and had the ring put on her finger by boyfriend Oli.
Professional players Joe Cullen and Brendan Dolan were throwing practise darts at the time of the unexpected proposal as they prepared to resume their match.
They were seen laughing before they joined the crowd in applauding the couple as they embraced.
Scores of people took to Twitter about the fan popping the question, with one writing: “A marriage proposal at the darts, she said yes good job the lad wasn’t left humiliated on live TV.”
Another wrote: “Watching the darts and within 5 minutes I see a proposal, a ‘Our Father who Dart in heaven’ sign and a 170 from Dolan!! Only at The World Championship!”
“The darts are a bit mad today, a couple having a domestic on camera, a proposal and Brendan Dolan is cruising,” darts fan Noel Blaney said.
