Darth Vader spotted in Cumbernauld town centre by baffled Scots dad

Darth Vader has been spotted roaming the streets of Cumbernauld ahead of today’s unofficial Star Wars Day.

A local was seen fully dressed as the infamous sci-fi villain outside the Tryst Sports Centre on Sunday.

The Dark Lord was filmed walking along the street in the outfit - which featured Vader’s iconic helmet, cape and lightsaber.

Kieran Taylor shared footage of Vader, which has since gone viral on social media - with more than 1,000 people liking the clip.

The 23-year-old courier could be heard shouting over to Vader, who turned around to the call before walking off down the road.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: "I was just coming out the swimming with my daughter and my girlfriend when I saw him just walking about.

"Not sure why, but I felt the need to shout over to him - he just stared at me and said absolutely nothing back.

"I've not got a clue where he went after that, he just kept walking on."

Many have shared the hilarious clip with their pals, with some referencing Star Wars itself.

One person wrote: “He missed his chance to say: “dad, I’ve been looking for you for a long time.””

Another asked: “Was he at the gym?”

Today is the day when Star Wars fans come together to share their favourite scenes from the popular sci-fi film series.

May the 4th, which is a reference to the memorable "may the force be with you" line, has become 'Star Wars Day'.

The day has taken a meteoric rise in popularity in last few years, with new films and various spin-offs emerging in the cinema in recent times.
