The Dartford Crossing was blocked due to a pedestrian on the bridge on Tuesday evening, with hour-long delays in both directions.
The M25 and the crossing were earlier delayed by a car fire which caused traffic chaos across parts of Essex and Kent.
National Highways said “delays are rapidly building” for motorists at the A282 southbound between the M25 Junction 31 and Junction 1A the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge over the River Thames.
Stationary traffic is reported in both directions on the motorway close to Lakeside shopping centre, Thurrock, Purfleet, Grays, Romford, Basildon towards Dartford, Kent.
