Darren Till fight claims refuted as Liverpool UFC star eyes next bout

Liverpool MMA star Darren Till won’t be fighting in March, according to UFC President Dana White.

Reports suggested Till would replace Robert Whittaker and take on Jared Cannonier at UFC 248 on March 7th.

White instead dismissed the reports in his post-fight press conference after UFC 246, citing an ankle injury as the reason he won’t be fighting in six weeks time.

Till hinted at the fight on January 11th, posting “VEGASSSSSS!!!!!!” alongside the expected temperature for March in Las Vegas on his Twitter account.

He insinuated once again about a fight with the American on an Instagram post two days ago, saying: ”I heard there was another (gorilla) looking for me? @killagorillamma”.

Till made his successful move up to middleweight last November, in a decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244 in New York.

One more victory over a high-ranking opponent at 185 lbs will likely see the Team Kaobon fighter challenge for his second UFC title.

UFC 248 is set to be headlined by current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero. The co main event will see women’s strawweight champion Weili Zhang look to defend her title against former champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk.
