Darren Till believes he still has ‘unfinished business’ at welterweight

Darren Till is moving up to middleweight for his next fight, but that doesn’t mean he’s done with welterweight.

Till takes on Kelvin Gastelum on Nov. 2 in the co-main event of UFC 244 for his debut at 185 pounds.

Speaking to media in a pre-fight interview at the UFC Gym in Nottingham, England, Till said despite having tough weight cuts to make the 170-pound limit in the past, he plans on moving back down in the future.

“I still have unfinished business at welterweight,” Till said. “So let me play out this next year. … I’m not looking past Kelvin, but let me see what happens this year.”

After an undefeated start to his professional MMA career, Till (17-2-1 MMA, 5-2-1 UFC) has dropped his last two in a row to Tyron Woodley in a failed attempt to capture the welterweight title, followed by Jorge Masvidal in his last outing in March by second-round knockout.

But despite his recent setbacks and having already missed weight twice, once vs. Jessin Ayari in 2017 then a year after that in his last win over Stephen Thompson, Till insists he can make the weight without any issues.

“I’ve still got a few names at welterweight who I want to take out, so it’s not impossible to go back down,” Till said. “I can do it. No one cuts weight like me … no one. So I can do it, to answer it. Really I have unfinished business.”
