Darren Till attempts to cover up tattoo of girlfriend with gorilla inking

UFC star Darren Till is attempting to cover a tattoo displaying his girlfriend's face by replacing it with a gorilla, judging by portraits he has taken.

The middleweight sensation from Liverpool faces Dricus Du Plessis in a do-or-die bout at UFC 282 in Las Vegas on Saturday night, and fans have noticed that he has covered his tattoo that depicted his girlfriend. While the Brit has made no statement on it, he has a newborn baby at home and his relationship status is unknown.

Till has previously explained that he got the tattoo to keep the woman, who is the mother of two of his children, close to him at all times, even when he fights. But starting around a year-and-a-half ago, eagle-eyed followers on social media began to notice that he was having his ink covered up.

In a fresh update, new portrait photos that were taken at the start of fight week show the Scouse fighter has a gorilla on his left arm, where his girlfriend once was.

It seems that going into his last bout with Derek Brunson in September of last year that he had the tattoo uncovered, with fans beginning to notice around October 2021 that he had begun the process.

"It's my girl," Till previously said of the tattoo. "It was a surprise for her on her birthday. I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to do something different. I’m going to get a tattoo of her face'. It's not Paige VanZant, I don't even know who that is. As I’ve told you about my girl, she’s next to none other. So every time I fight, she fights too. And she gets beat up with me - so if she’s p***ing me off, I just go to the gym and let some guys punch me."

In the recent pictures, she is completely covered and replaced by a gorilla, although trolls on social media have joked that he shouldn't have bothered. Bellator fighter Dillon Danis joked that Till should "just cut the arm off at this point", while another user added: "Never will understand people tattooing girlfriend or boyfriends name or face on their body."
