Darren Sproles says he wants to return for the 2019 season to play for a contender

It took a few months and the timing isn’t ideal, but Darren Sproles finally confirmed what many around the league assumed, and that’s him returning for a 15th NFL season. It’s unclear whether or not Sproles is at all in the Eagles plans, but during a visit to Dr. David Chao’s podcast, via Eagles 24/7, the talented veteran stated that he’d like to give another go.

“If the right team calls, then I’d go back,” Sproles said. “That’s my whole thing. I want a full year. I just want to get up to top-four, top-five in all-purpose yards, like ever. Right now I’m Number Six. If I would have played a full year last year, I’d be Number Four right now.”

“I want to play in the Super Bowl. You know what I’m saying? Like, I was on the team, yeah, but I want to play in the Super Bowl.”

The now 36-year-old Sproles still has some juice left in the tank after racking up 24 carries for 110 yards and 11 catches for 138 yards in the five games he played in down the stretch. With the Eagles trading for Jordan Howard and more importantly, drafting Miles Sanders, there may not be a role for Sproles in Philadelphia, especially if the younger Boston Scott can emerge as a suitable replacement.
