Darren McFadden sells Oakland home with a view for above asking price

Aug. 04--Former Raiders tailback Darren McFadden got his price and then some for his home in Oakland.

Listed for sale in June for $2.3 million, the 5,239-square-foot home with panoramic bay and city views sold over the weekend for $2.35 million.

McFadden, who joined the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent this offseason after seven seasons in Oakland, bought the house in 2008, his rookie year, for $2.15 million.

Set above the Leona Canyon Regional Open Space Preserve, the Mediterranean-inspired home sits behind gates on about half an acre with a swimming pool.

Two floors of living include a double-height entry, formal living and dining rooms and an eat-in kitchen. The master suite sports a private balcony, a soaking tub and a fireplace for a total of five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

French and sliding glass doors open to grounds containing a covered patio and a large expanse of grass. A raised spa accompanies the swimming pool.

Devang Parikh of Bay Sotheby's International Realty is the listing agent. Christopher Butner of New Horizon Real Estate Investments represented the buyer.

McFadden, 27, in March agreed to a two-year deal with the Cowboys worth as much as $5.85 million. He is expected to compete for carries in a Dallas backfield that saw last year's leading rusher DeMarco Murray join the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason.

The fourth overall pick in the 2008 draft, McFadden has totaled 4,247 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns across seven NFL seasons.
