Darren Day's shame over week long cocaine binge which left him zombified

Darren Day went on a week long cocaine binge, leaving him looking like the "walking dead", the star revealed.

Star Darren did not wash, sleep or even change his clothes as he snorted £2,000 worth of the drug.

He thanks Robbie Williams and his fifth fiancee Sophie Ladds for helping him recover from his binge.

Darren, 53, has previously spoken about his drug problems but had clean for years before his meltdown.

He blames his company going into liquidation during lockdown for his drug meltdown.

Speaking to The Sun he said: "I barricaded myself in the bathroom for seven days. I didn’t eat at all. I didn’t change my clothes for a week. I didn’t sleep.

Now fit and well and ready to start in shows Footloose and Chicago, Darren looks back on his cocaine binge with shame.

He explains: “It was last May and I was so stressed, I hadn’t earned since February 2020 and I was four days away from rehearsals for Footloose when all the theatres closed. There are no excuses but I was basically s***ing myself. I was at home in Essex, just me and Sophie in the house."

Darren, who is best pals with Robbie Williams after they emailed over him trying to chat up the theatre star's then girlfriend, saud he barricaded himself in his ensuite bathroom until he had snorted the whole bag of cocaine.

He said fiancee Sophie was so concerned about him she branded him the living dead - and told him to call pal Robbie.

Darren said: "“When I rang Robbie when after what happened last year he wasn’t disappointed. He’s never been disappointed. He’s just incredible."

Robbie then put him in touch with his mental health team and Darren started going to three Zoom meetings a day before gradually recovering.

Darren also revealed a secret crack addiction.

He said: "I was a crackhead from 2001 to 2005. And crack makes you an instant junkie. I was smoking it, not snorting it. Actual crack rocks. Smoking it on a little pipe. It’s ridiculously intense."

Darren has vowed to change his life and with the help of Sophie he is determined to stay clear of drugs.
