Darren Bent's Jamie Vardy claim that won't go down well with Arsenal fans

Former Premier League striker Darren Bent has claimed that Leicester City man Jamie Vardy is the 'best striker in the Premier League', ahead of Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Vardy scored his 10th goal of the season in the Foxes 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, taking him to the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts ahead of the likes of Aubameyang, Tammy Abraham Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane.

The win took Leicester back into third place in the table and ensured that they built on their record 9-0 win against Southampton just over a week ago.

After struggling to adapt to a new style of play under former manager Claude Puel, Vardy has been re-energised by the arrival of Brendan Rodgers as manager, scoring 19 goals in 22 games under the Northern Irishman.

"I think he's playing at an extremely high level, he's probably playing better now and is more consistent than they year they won the title, he's playing that well.

"He's getting older, but he still seems to be getting better, he's top goal scorer in the Premier League already. He's just going from strength to strength."

Unai Emery discusses Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang captaincy

"He's getting service from everywhere and I've played in teams where the service has been that good and all you've really got to concentrate on is putting the ball in the net and he's doing that really, really well.

"I think right now he's probably the best striker in the Premier League."

Arsenal face the in form Leicester and Vardy when they travel to the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
