Darren Bent responds as Liverpool fans make Leeds United claim about Man United's PSG win

Darren Bent has played down the idea that Leeds United could beat PSG.

The French champions put in a disappointing performance on Tuesday evening to lose 2-1 to a Manchester United side that have been much-maligned in recent times.

Man United's performance won plenty of praise from pundits, but, for one Liverpool fan, the accolades were over the top.

Muhammed rang into talkSPORT after the game to complain about the praise the Red Devils were getting - and argued that Leeds would stand a chance against PSG.

He said: "The PSG side is absolutely terrible, even Leeds United would go and beat them.

"They're terrible, Mbappe and Neymar are two players but the rest are terrible.

"You guys are going on like [Manchester] United have actually done something."

Former England striker Bent was asked about Muhammed's claims but said he could not see the Whites overcoming PSG.

Bent said that, whilst he felt PSG were an average side, the presence of world-class attackers Neymar and Kylian Mbappe would be too much for the Whites to contend with.

He said: "They were missing three crucial players last night, Icardi, Verratti and Marquinhos who was on the bench," Bent said.

"Three big players but that team that played last night was awful. Take Neymar and Mbappé out of the side and it wasn’t a good performance.

"Man United did well. As far as him saying Leeds could beat that PSG side, I’m not sure about that."

Bent added: "For me I just can’t see Leeds beating PSG, containing Neymar and Mbappe, I think they would be a notch too far for them."
