Darren Bent makes Josh King prediction that will excite Tottenham fans amid transfer links

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has tipped Bournemouth striker Joshua King to battle Harry Kane for a starting spot at Spurs should he complete a move to North London.

The Norway international, who only cost the Cherries £1million when he joined them from Blackburn Rovers during his debut Premier League season, is said to have sent his representatives to the capital to talk to Spurs bosses over a potential summer transfer move.

It comes six months on from a summer saga that almost saw him join Manchester United on January's transfer deadline day with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer instead landing the loan services of Nigerian Odion Ighalo.

Spurs have long been linked with a move for another Bournemouth forward, Callum Wilson, but latest reports suggest that their interest could well have now moved to his 28-year-old sidekick in attack at the Vitality Stadium.

"Callum Wilson must be gutted that Josh King has hijacked his transfer move," said Bent when speaking to TalkSport.

"I like it. You can tell that he has a lot of ability. He can score goals and he can create goals. He has all the ability.

"I think if he is happy to go to Spurs and to fight Kane for that number one spot then well played to him. He is good enough"

Bent continued: "I am a big fan of Callum Wilson. I think injuries killed him a lot last season, but I am a big fan of Joshua King."

King, currently away on international duty with Norway, has scored 48 goals in his 161 career Premier League appearances.
