Darrell Clarke recruits two for Walsall in Bristol Rovers reunion

Darrell Clarke has overseen a Bristol Rovers reunion at Walsall.

The former Gas boss took over at the recently-relegated Saddlers earlier this month and has now shuffled his backroom staff, bringing in two of his right-hand men to the Bescot.

Marcus Stewart, who left the Gas in the aftermath of Clarke's departure in December, has once again assumed the role of assistant manager.

Stewart had been asked to stay at the Gas to help out then-caretaker boss Graham Coughlan but opted instead to leave the club.

The 46-year-old started his playing career at Rovers, scoring 57 goals in 171 matches and was brought back to the Gas as a development coach in 2012 before being made assistant manager in 2013.

Also linking up with Clarke again is Brian Dutton.

Bristol Rovers transfer rumours analysed: The non-league goalkeeper, Coventry City duo and an in-demand centre-back

Dutton was under-23s assistant at Rovers since 2017 but left the club last week.

He had been brought to the Gas by Clarke, who had also given him the captaincy at Salisbury during Dutton's playing career.

Dutton will assume a similar role of professional phase development coach at the Saddlers, but is also assistant manager like Stewart.
