Daron Payne is looking forward to a big sophomore season

Coming into his second year in the NFL, Washington Redskins defensive lineman Daron Payne is only looking to get better.

He already made a name for himself among rookies in 2018 by racking up 5 sacks and 56 total tackles, and another year in the Washington system is only going to allow him to improve. Now that the spring camps are over, players around the league have some time off. For Payne, that isn’t necessary.

“Really about to get back into it,” Payne said about his plans while on ‘Redskins Nation.’ “Try to train a little bit harder and get ready for camp.”

Under the coaching of Jim Tomsula, and alongside both Matt Ioannidis and Jonathan Allen, the Redskins defensive front has been able to welcome a new rookie into the mix in Montez Sweat. If the front line can succeed as expected, then the stats that Payne puts up are bound to be impressive.

“I think this year coming into it, I just feel like I feel more comfortable and things are just coming easier,” said Payne.

With his growing experience added to the defense, the Redskins should be formidable on that side of the ball in 2019.
