Darndale shooting victim was walking with baby just seconds before he was blasted to death in Dublin

A man shot dead in Dublin this afternoon was walking with an infant child just seconds before he was killed.

The second shooting in the capital in less than 24 hours, the incident happened in the Marigold Road area of Darndale shortly after 4pm.

It is understood the victim handed his infant baby over to a friend before running for his life.

A source said: "Multiple reports are that the victim in Darndale was walking with his infant baby boy in the moments before he was gunned down.

"He handed the child to a friend who was walking with him before running for his life, but the gunman was able to shoot him dead."

It is understood that the victim, who is in his early 20s, was shot multiple times and died at the scene.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are at the scene of shooting incident that occurred at approximately 4pm on 22/5/19, in the Marigold Road area Darndale. Further details will be issued in due course."

The shooting comes just after the body of Sean Little was found beside a burning car at Rowans Little, Walshestown, Balbriggan.

His body was removed from the scene of the fatal shooting this afternoon.

It is understood that Mr Little, who was found beside the car, was shot once in the head and once in the chest.
