Darkness Into Light raises a whopping €6 million before start of event

Darkness Into Light has already raised a whopping €6.4 million as tens of thousands of people across the world took part in the charity event.

The annual event held in aid of Pieta House took place this morning albeit differently compared to normal due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Over 140,000 people have signed up across the world.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions that forbid organised gatherings, people were encouraged to wear the signature yellow t-shirt and walk, swim, run, or cycle at sunrise while following social distancing.

The fundraising goal of €5 million was smashed even before the event began.

The event raised vital funds needed to support the suicide prevention charity.

In 2020, Pieta delivered over 52,000 hours of therapy and received over 70,000 calls and texts for help through their 24/7 crisis helpline.
