Dark EastEnders trailer teases brutal Phil Mitchell attack, death and shock affair

It will be a dark few weeks for the Walford residents as lies, jealousy and secrets consume some of them and threaten to change things forever.

A new sinister EastEnders trailer has teased Phil Mitchell's attack and a number of sordid affairs which could have worrying consequences.

Ruby Allen and Max Branning are set to embark on a steamy affair, which could stir Stacey Fowler into a fit of jealousy once again.

The trailer also hints that Sharon and Keanu's affair, which may have resulted in a baby, will be exposed.

At the beginning of the teaser, Martin is seen glaring at a house as he is heard saying: "Loyalty. It goes both ways Stace."

Louise and Keanu kiss as Sharon is heard begging her partner: "Please, Phil."

In the next scene, Sharon looks devastated as she stares down at a piece of paper and looks up.

Has Phil discovered the truth?

Ruby and Max are having a meal together as she jokes: "Not just a pretty face, are you?"

The clip is interspersed with Martin's voice as he seems to be talking to Stacey, saying: "You get off on it, don't ya? The attention."

Viewers can then see Stacey's face drop as she sees Ruby and Max kissing on the street.

"You're jealous of Ruby, aren't you?" Max is heard asking.

Ben Mitchell looks worse for wear and looks beaten up as he stumbles around inside the houst.

Phil seems to address his son as he asks him whether he wants to "stay in this family or not".

In the street, a furious Phil confronts Keanu as he points a finger in his face: "Not one more word! Not one more word!"

Police officers are later all seen gathering outside Phil's address as he is rushed out after being attacked.

Who will try to hurt him and will he die?
