Darius Slay: ‘time will tell’ if he holds out from training camp

Darius Slay has skipped all of the Lions offseason activities so far, both the voluntary OTAs and the mandatory minicamp. Based on his comments on a recent podcast, Slay appears ready to continue his holdout into training camp next month.

Slay joined the Pride Podcast this week to discuss several topics. Chief among them is his ongoing contract dissatisfaction. When asked if he intended to show up for training camp, the Pro Bowl corner kept his options open.

“Will I be there?” Slay responded. “We’ll see. Time will tell.”

Slay is hoping for a new contract which pays him more guaranteed money. He is two years into a 4-year, $48.5 million contract extension that will pay him $12 million in salary in 2019. He carries the highest salary cap figure of any CB in the NFL this year.
