Darius Slay proudly tweets off his impressive ball skills stats

Darius Slay skipped the entire Lions offseason workout program, both voluntary and mandatory sessions, in search of a new contract. The Pro Bowl cornerback still has two years left on a four-year, $48.15 million contract extension he signed back in 2016, but he wants more money.

Thanks to a couple of statistical rankings tweeted out on Tuesday, Slay was able to present his case for why he deserves a raise. His ball skills are his calling card, and no NFL cornerback has more passes defended since the start of 2016 than Mr. Big Play Slay.

Slay took note and packaged that tweet with another from @NFL_Stats, which is an unofficial account but the stats posted are verified.

In 2018, Slay picked off three passes and defended 17. He led the NFL in both categories in 2017 with eight INTs and an incredible 26 passes defended.

Slay recently intimated that his no-show policy might extend into training camp next month. His confidence in his impressive statistics would be a big reason why.
