Daring locals form human chain to rescue girl from drowning in overflowing river

This is the incredible moment villagers jump into fast-moving currents to save a girl from drowning.

A 12-year-old girl was swept away due to heavy current in Saraswati river at Prachi Teerth of Sutrapada, western India on Friday.

Footage taken by villagers standing on the bank shows at least two men trying to pull the girl to safety in a daring attempt.

The fast currents keep pushing them down the stream as they struggle to keep the girl's head above the murky waters.
