Darian Thompson among three Cowboys out vs. Giants

The New York Giants will be without rookie wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring/groin) and tight end Garrett Dickerson (quad) on Sunday afternoon against the Dallas Cowboys, who will also be missing a few players.

Considering Dallas’ injury report was 12 players deep, it’s good news for them to be without only three of those: safeties Darian Thompson (ankle) and Donovan Wilson (ankle), and linebacker Luke Gifford (ankle).

Meanwhile, some other players who had been question marks have been removed from the injury report and are expected to play on Sunday: wide receiver Amari Cooper (foot), guard Zack Martin (back), tackle Tyron Smith (back) and defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford (hip), to name just a few.

With Thompson and Wilson out, the Cowboys will enter Week 1 with just three healthy bodies at safety — Jeff Health, Xavier Woods and Kavon Frazier.

Finally, with Gifford also sitting this one out, Justin March will have to step up and serve as the backup at both the strong-side linebacker position and the weak-side linebacker position.
