Daredevil tourist takes photo while dangerously dangling legs over 100ft cliff

A daredevil tourist casually took a picture while dangerously dangling her legs over a 100ft cliff edge in East Sussex.

Crowds gathered at the top of the cliff to take in the incredible views at Birling Gap, near Eastbourne, on Tuesday.

Some took selfies while others peered over the edge or looked out across the sea as they soaked up the scorching hot weather.

The visitors ignored multiple warning signs at the beauty spot, where several people have died in recent years.

Eastbourne Borough Council previously put out a warning that the cliffs were dangerous after a 'significant' rock fall at Birling Gap.

The council tweeted: "If you're heading out for a coastal walk this weekend, stay away from cliff edges and bases.

"There have been 50 cliff falls in the last year in East Sussex, where the chalk breaks away from the cliff and falls to the beach or sea below."

Brits flocked to the seaside as temperatures soared to 28C in Northolt, west London, on Wednesday - the hottest day of the year.

Meanwhile the mercury hit 26.5C in Hawarden, North Wales, and 25.4C in Achnagart, Scottish Highlands.

Scotland, Wales and England all recorded their warmest day of the year so far.

Northern Ireland also matched its warmest temperature of the year so far with 23.3C recorded in Ballywatticock, County Down, The Met Office said.

However thunderstorms and rain could bring an end to an incredible few days of soaring temperatures.

While balmy temperatures could stick around throughout the weekend, the sunshine could make way for more stormy conditions.

Parts of the the north and west could see an "Atlantic influence" at times - meaning there is a threat of showers, according to Netweather TV.
