Daredevil season 4: Showrunner discusses whether possible in wake of Iron Fist and Luke Cage cancellation

Charlie Cox in 'Daredevil' ( Netflix )

With Netflix having cancelled both Iron Fist and Luke Cage within a week of each other, fans have begun to question the future of their fellow Defenders.

Jessica Jones and The Punisher have already been renewed for their third and second seasons, respectively, but Daredevil has not had another run commissioned.

Following the third season’s debut on the streaming service, showrunner Erik Oleson spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the current status of the show.

“I can tell you that I’m very hopeful to go do a season four,” he told the publication. “There has not yet been any kind of an official pick-up, but if there is, I’m very hopeful that I will be a part of it.”

The recent set of episodes saw the iconic comic-book villain Bullseye being introduced to the Marvel universe, with Oleson hoping to continue telling the character’s story.

“Let’s just say we have now seen the origin of Bullseye, and there are many, many stories yet to tell with this cast of characters,” he said.

“Whether season 4 goes in that direction or another, Bullseye will be living and breathing in this world because we’ve now seen how he has been created.”

All three seasons of Daredevil are currently available on Netflix. You can read out interview with the show’s leading actor, Charlie Cox, here
