Daredevil climbs London’s 225m Cheesegrater skyscraper with no ropes

A topless daredevil stunned city workers on Friday morning by scaling the Cheesegrater without ropes.

Footage of the unknown man scaling the 738-feet tower was filmed by stunned office workers as he made his ascent around 9am.

The free-climber appeared to be making the daring climb of the Leadenhall Building, one of the most recognisable buildings on the London skyline, dressed only in shorts.

He was caught by police who set up a cordon around the building and waited to detain him on the roof.

City of London Police said: “A man has been arrested for aggravated trespass after climbing up the Leadenhall building in the City.

“We were called at 9.06am and quickly put a cordon in place.

“He was met on the roof by police officers and taken into custody.”

Footage on social media showed workers looking on in surprise from their desks as the man scaled the building.

The man’s identity and motivation for doing the climb is not yet known.
