Former Glenelg footballer Darcy Fogarty was the first South Australian taken in Friday night's AFL national draft, selected by the Adelaide Crows with pick 12.
The Crows took another local at selection 40, drafting Andrew McPherson from the Eagles.
"To stay in my home state, it's unreal," Fogarty said on the Adelaide Football Club website.
"It's something that I've dreamed of for a long time."
The other South Australians to be drafted included Sturt's Callum Coleman-Jones who will play for last year's premier, Richmond, after being selected at pick 20.
Melbourne used pick 37 on Norwood's Harrison Petty. Both Petty and Fogarty have also represented Rostrevor College.
Gold Coast took Charlie Ballard from the Double Blues at pick 42, while his Sturt teammates, Jordan Houlahan (Essendon selection 49), Mitchell Crowden (Fremantle 59) and Brandon Zerk-Thatcher (Essendon 66) were also picked up.
The Crows made just the two selections, while Port Adelaide has five recruits, including former Melbourne and Glenelg player Dom Barry.
The other new Power players are Sam Hayes and Joel Garner from Eastern Ranges, Kane Farrell from Bendigo and Jake Patmore from Claremont.
Jackson Edwards, the son of former Adelaide star Tyson Edwards, was not drafted and will now join the Crows as a father-son selection in Monday's rookie draft.
Cameron Rayner was the number one selection and will play for Brisbane.
