Dapo Mebude's immediate Rangers future in focus as loan boss Allan Johnston reveals 'big mistake' thinking

Rangers rule-breaker Dapo Mebude faces an uncertain future at loan club Queen of the South - as his manager admits he's unsure if he'll play for the Doonhamers again.

Mebude was one of five Ibrox players that were caught attending a party in lockdown, the others being Calvin Bassey, Bongani Zungu, Nathan Patterson and youth keeper Brian Kinnear.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut on the final day of the 2018-19 season but it remains to be seen if the Auchenhowie prospect has a future at his parent club.

However, he is the only player out of the five who is currently at another side on loan, having made the switch to the Dumfries club in the January window.

Mebude now faces a period of self-isolation which will likely be followed by a lengthy SFA ban, with Jordan Jones and George Edmundson's seven-game suspensions for a similar incident setting a precedent.

Queens boss Allan Johnston hasn't yet heard what comes next from Rangers as he said: “We’re still taking advice from the SFA and Rangers.

“We just need to wait until there is more clarity there.

“It’s too early to say if he’ll play for us again, we need to wait and speak to Rangers once everything settles down.

“We’ll speak to the SFA and see what the protocols are and take it from there.

“There was no contact with our squad. He’s not been in since.

“I think the boy recognises himself he’s made a big mistake. He’s still a really young lad and hopefully he learns from it.”
