Danny Rose slams Premier League restart talk: 'I don't give a f*** about the nation's morale, lives are at risk'

Danny Rose has described talk of a Premier League return amid the coronavirus pandemic as ‘b*******’, insisting he doesn’t ‘give a f***’ if it helps lift the nation’s morale if lives are still at risk.

Premier League football has been suspended since March but professional sport in the UK has been given the green light to return behind closed doors if the government reaches step two of its coronavirus recovery strategy by June 1.

Talks on ‘Project Restart’ continue this week as club and league officials continue to discuss options to bring the game back and conclude the 2019-20 season.

But Rose, who left Tottenham to join Newcastle on loan during January transfer, strongly opposes restart plans, insisting Covid-19 numbers must drop further before football returns.

"The government is saying we are bringing football back because it is going to boost the nation's morale," he said while live on Instagram.

"I don't give a f*** about the nation's morale, people’s lives are at risk. Football shouldn't even be spoken about coming back until the numbers have dropped massively. It's bollocks. Well see. I'm supposed to tested on Friday so we will just have to wait and see."
