Danny Rose set for Genoa transfer after being frozen out at Tottenham

Danny Rose is set to join Genoa after being frozen out at Tottenham.

The Italian club are in advanced talks with Spurs and are open to a permanent switch as a loan move seems unlikely because Rose only has a year left on his contract.

Rose, 30, has not even been given a squad number by Jose Mourinho for this coming season and has been told he can find a new club.

Serie A club Genoa are keen to sign Rose who has also lost his place in the England squad as he struggled to revive his career.

Rose went on loan to Newcastle in January but they opted not to make a permanent offer while the left back voiced his frustrations with Mourinho during Tottenham’s All Or Nothing documentary.

It is clear now that Rose has no future at Spurs under Mourinho and Genoa look set to get the deal over the line.

Tottenham are keen to get big earners off the books to help fund their move to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid on loan for the rest of the season.

Mourinho already looks to have lined up a ready-made replacement for Rose, too.

While Spurs have options at left-back already in Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon, the club are on the verge of landing Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid.

Reguilon impressed on loan at Sevilla last season but is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.

Madrid are believed to have insisted on a buy-back clause entered into the agreement though which will see Reguilon move to Tottenham in a £27million deal.

The 23-year-old was at Tottenham's training ground on Wednesday ahead of undergoing a medical on Thursday.

He could even be announced before Spurs kick-off their Europa League campaign against Lokomotiv Plovdiv - a competition Reguilon knows well having won it last season.
