Danny Rose sends strong message to Daniel Levy over his Tottenham future ahead of January window

Danny Rose has said that he will leave Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.

The left-back has constantly been linked with a move away from the north London outfit and has now made a firm decision regarding his future.

In an interview with the Evening Standard, the England international has lifted the lid on what happened during the summer and has told fans not to believe any rumours about him leaving in January.

"It's pretty obvious what happened [in the summer]. People upstairs at Tottenham were trying to do what they were trying to do, Rose said. "I've said [to them] I've got 18 months left on my contract and I'm not going anywhere until my contract has finished.

"In January, you're probably going to hear something [about my future]. I'm telling you right now that I'm not going anywhere until my contract is finished.

"[Tottenham chairman] Daniel Levy told me in the summer there was no new contract for me at Tottenham, which is fine. I respect that. We move on.

"My contract is up in 18 months' time and I'll leave the football club then. People [in the media] can save their time trying to get stuff ready for January about me being sold.

"Because I can tell you now: it ain't happening.

"I know what people were trying to do in the summer... There were no bids — that was rubbish."

Despite Rose's claim about the club's plans to move him on during the summer, he's effectively been the first-choice left-back under Mauricio Pochettino so far this season.

He's featured in all but three Premier League games so far and has played in half of Spurs' Champions League fixtures.

It remains to be seen if Rose remains a regular for the remainder of his contract.

Ben Davies signed a long-term contract in the summer, while Ryan Sessegnon - a £30m signing from Fulham - is another option at left-back.
