Danny Rose back in training at Newcastle United after reassurance from Steve Bruce and medical team

Newcastle United's on-loan defender Danny Rose is back in training at Benton.

The Tottenham Hotspur man had valid concerns about returning to first-team training before Project Restart got under way.

However, with the full-back reassured by the club's medical team and boss Steve Bruce, who gave players the option of not returning, Rose has taken part in the club's first full sessions since March as a group.

Rose is also set to get his loan spell from Spurs extended with games set to go on beyond his loan arrangement with the London club.

Rose had said on a podcast: "I'm dying to get back to football but just with the things that are happening right now, people are going through this coronavirus pandemic a lot worse than me, I don't want to be complaining about everything.

"Just off the fact that people are suggesting we should go back to football like we're guinea pigs or lab rats. We're going to experiment this phase and see if it works or not.

I can just imagine people at home saying, 'Well they earn that amount of money so they should be going back'.

"For stuff like that I think is it worth the hassle? I could be potentially risking my health for people's entertainment and that's not something I want to be involved in if I'm honest."

Newcastle players are being tested three times a week for Covid-19.
