A team previously linked with Rangers head coach Danny Rohl has suffered relegation, following a tight play-off encounter.
German side Wolfsburg, who won the Bundesliga in 2009, emerged as a potential destination for Rohl, after a disappointing end to the season for the 37-year-old at Ibrox.
However, Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh has placed his trust in the coach, despite failing to deliver a trophy for the side he joined last year as Russell Martin's replacement.
Now, the club he was linked with in his homeland has been relegated for the first time, following a 29-year stay in the German top flight.

After finishing 16th in the league, the Lower Saxony club was made to play a two-legged affair against second division side Paderborn, who ended the season in third place.
Drawing 0-0 last Thursday at home, Wolfsburg took an early lead in the return fixture through Dzenan Pejcinovic, though Filip Bilbija equalised for the hosts just before half-time.
After 180 minutes, the two sides could not be separated, and the play-off went to extra time, which was won by Paderborn, thanks to a 99th-minute goal from Laurin Curda.
