Danny Murphy's Scotland claim shot down as radio presenter blasts 'disrespect' from English pundits

Proud Scot and talkSPORT host Jim White has blasted "disrespect" from his English colleagues regarding the Scotland team.

White fired back on Wednesday morning after radio guest Danny Murphy claimed earlier in the week that a third-string England could defeat Steve Clarke's men when they meet at Wembley during Euro 2020.

The presenter believes there is a lack of recognition after the national side ended 23 years without qualification for a major tournament against Serbia on Thursday night.

White said: "There is this constant theme of disrespect about Scotland.

"We've qualified for a major tournament, the finals of a major tournament since 1998..."

White's co-host, former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan, interjected with yet another put-down from down south.

He said: "It's not disrespect, it's just honesty. There's a difference.

"And it was also on the back of you running around in a sporran, with a dirk out, telling everyone you were doing to dominate the world.

"Danny Murphy turned around and said that felt that England's B team could beat Scotland.

"All of this is based on Jim getting a little bit ahead of himself, which is difficult to believe, but he was."

White wanted the last word with a warning of what's to come at Euro 2020 next summer.

He brushed off the slagging and remarked: "We all giggle - we'll see you at Wembley."
