Danny Murphy on the Liverpool star that reminds him of David Beckham

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has compared the crossing ability of Trent Alexander-Arnold to that of David Beckham.

The former Manchester United winger was famous for his dead ball delivery, and now Alexander-Arnold is following suit.

The Reds full-back finished last season with 12 assist in the Premier League, equal to what Spurs' Christian Eriksen notched up for his side during the campaign.

And the England international has started this season where he left off last year, providing a pin-point cross for Divock Origi to head home Liverpool's fourth goal against Norwich City in their opening Premier League game on Friday night.

Alexander-Arnold's attacking prowess has become so phenomenal, that Murphy believes the 20-year-old could easily become a right wing-back.

“Trent’s display of passing and technical ability that we’ve not seen in a full-back for many, many years," Murphy told talkSPORT on Monday morning.

“Trent, for me, is as good a crosser of the ball I’ve seen since David Beckham.

“His crossing is already as good as Beckham, definitely. His set plays and crossing are both phenomenal.

“His technical ability, his passing ability is very unusual for a full-back, normally it’s a midfielder who posses those type of quality.

“Ideally you want to see him as a wing-back. He gets caught out in defence sometimes, but he will create and make goals in whatever position he plays.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold is 20-years-old and he’s played in the last two Champions League finals!

“He’s a scouser living the dream and he’s technically superb.”
