Danny Murphy explains how Liverpool are going to save themselves loads of money

Danny Murphy reckons Curtis Jones will save Liverpool a fortune in the transfer market over the next few seasons.

Jones has muscled his way into Liverpool's first-team set-up in recent months, and was named in the starting line-up last time out against Burnley.

Liverpool won't have big money to spend in the summer transfer window.

The Reds were recently forced to give up on signing Timo Werner due to his £50million release clause, with the German joining Chelsea instead.

Murphy doesn't think a lack of funds is something to worry about necessarily, as the Reds have shown this season they have capable youngsters coming through the ranks.

Jones, is a great example, and a player former Liverpool midfielder Murphy reckons will save the club a few quid over the next few years.

Murphy told the BBC: "Really impressed with Curtis Jones.

"He plays in midfield, he's going to score goals. He gets in there, times his runs beautifully, he's comfortable with both feet and knows when to pass and when to dribble.

"He's got creativity and an end product. It wasn't quite his perfect day but he was a bit unlucky as it was his first Premier League start, let's not forget.

"He showed all of the bits of quality you need to play at this level.

"He was confident, he was asking for the ball, getting it in tight areas and trying to play through with little intricate passes

"He kept probing, he doesn't play safe, he tries to make an impact on the game and that’s what you want. That's what you need to do when you play for Liverpool.

"It was a terrific debut for him and he's going to save Liverpool some money in the market, that's for sure."
