Danny Mills has key question about audacious Leeds United transfer swoop

Danny Mills reckons Fikayo Tomori would be a good signing for Leeds United - but has one key question about a potential deal.

Leeds have been linked with a move for Chelsea defender Tomori in the January transfer window.

The England international has found his first-team chances limited of late under Blues boss Frank Lampard.

His lack of action has led to speculation over a possible loan move away from Stamford Bridge next month.

Leeds have had injury problems in defence, with Robin Koch and Diego Llorente currently sidelined.

And skipper Liam Cooper was forced off during Sunday's 6-2 defeat at Manchester United after picking up a knock.

Mills would welcome the addition of Tomori, as long as it represented value for money.

The former Leeds and England man told Football Insider: “He’s a good player, he’s a quality player, that’s for sure. If you can get a player like that...

“It’s just about how much is he going to cost? Will Chelsea let him out? Will they pay some of his wages? And will they expect a large loan fee?

"They’re the negotiations that need to be had.

“Would he add strength to the squad? Yes, but at what price does that come? They’re the options you have to weigh up.”

Tomori has previously had loan spells at Brighton, Hull City and Derby County.

The 23-year-old broke into the Chelsea first team last season, making 22 appearances in all competitions and earning a maiden senior international call-up.

However, he has slipped down the pecking order this term and has not started a Premier League match in 2020-21 to date.

He has made just one substitute appearance in the league, along with two Carabao Cup outings.
