Danny Miller got surprise baby news from fiancee as he filmed Emmerdale explosion scenes

Emmerdale actor Danny Miller has announced some exciting news as he and his long-term girlfriend Steph Jones are not only newly engaged but they're also expecting their first child.

It comes after the ITV soap star revealed the couple had been struggling with fertility issues for a year.

The 30-year-old actor, who plays Emmerdale's Aaron Dingle, is no stranger to dramatic scenes but he couldn't have predicted the surprise he got on set recently when his partner called him with the good news.

Danny revealed he broke down in tears on the Yorkshire set when his fiancée told him she was pregnant, the Mirror reports.

The actor explained that he was actually filming a massive explosion scene when Steph desperately begged him to ring her, just days before the engaged couple were due to start IVF treatment.

The over the moon parents-to-be recreated the moment when Danny got home as Steph took a second pregnancy test.

Danny and Steph are already parents – of sorts – to their adorable Cavapoo called Gini, who is often seen on his social media.

It's clear the duo love kids, as they seem very close with his nieces and nephews, having spent plenty of time with them during lockdown.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Danny said: "We were filming the barn explosion storyline. When I saw how many times she had rang me I had a feeling. I thought, either she’s pregnant or something serious is going on.

"Usually my phone is on flight mode but that day I knew she wasn’t feeling good, she hadn’t had her period and we were just about to start the IVF, so I just put it on silent. I had to text her saying I couldn’t speak, but she replied saying ring me but with three Ns and four Es!"

But once he could make himself available at the next break, Danny called Steph almost instantly.

He added: "The next take was long but then luckily they turned the cameras off and I said to the first assistant I was going to make a call. I rang Steph and she was laughing but crying and I just knew.

"With us being with the IVF consultant the day before, I was in complete shock. I started crying. It’s making me emotional to think about it now. I bought another pregnancy test on the way home, not that she had to prove it, but I just wanted that moment for us."

Earlier this year, Danny popped the question to Steph over a candlelit dinner in St Lucia.

Over social media, the actor has shared little glimpses into his life with his fiancée.

Danny and Steph have been together for two wonderful years now.

But they go way back; the couple first met when they attended the same primary school.
