Danny Mandroiu declares 'I love winning trophies' as Stephen Bradley praises star man

Danny Mandroiu fired Shamrock Rovers to back-to-back league titles and roared: ‘I love winning trophies’.

The Hoops ace scored twice in the first-half before Aidomo Emakhu sealed it at the death against Finn Harps to spark a pitch invasion with 7,030 fans in Tallaght.

Mandroiu beamed: “I love winning trophies, I love scoring goals,. What a club this is. My first year here. I'm so happy. I can't believe it.

"We wanted to start strongly and bury them. That's what we did. I thought we controlled the whole game.

“I’m buzzing. But it’s not about me. I scored two goals but the lads have been terrific all season. We’re champions - champions again - for a reason."

And Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley hailed his Hooped heroes for delivering the club’s 19th title in style with three games to go.

Bradley said: “The players have created history back to back and are the first Shamrock Rovers team to win it here in Tallaght.”

And Bradley then insisted that he won’t lose a wink of sleep over whether Rovers' achievement this season has received enough credit from outside the club.

“Other people can have their opinion, whether we agree with them or not, but we're not too worried about that,” he said.

“I thought the players were excellent, the manner in which they approached the game. All the pressure was on winning tonight and I thought they handled it really well.”

And Bradley added: “It was a tricky one because there was a big crowd and all the pressure was on winning it front of our fans.

“But I thought we handled it really well and got the three goals

"We tried to sign Danny and he had other options and we said ‘come here and let us try to develop you’.

“He’s come in and worked extremely hard, he’s got 12 goals and we’re still not finished.

“He’s been first class since he came in, he’s been top drawer.

“It’s his all-round game, his running power, knowing when to turn in behind and when to stand and his all-round link-up play is very, very good."
