Danny Jardine targets play-off success with Edinburgh City

DANNY JARDINE insists Edinburgh City are determined to go one step further than last season after getting play-off revenge on Dumbarton.

The capital outfit earned a second successive play-off final after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against the Sons sealed their progress thanks to last Tuesday’s commanding 4-1 first-leg win.

Having lost in the final to League One Dumbarton last year, the Citizens are desperate to make the most of a second shot at promotion when they take on League Two rivals Annan Athletic.

Alan Maybury’s side will be hoping to make the most of home advantage again tonight and Jardine reckons they have the bit firmly between their teeth with a massive prize on the horizon.

The former Middlesbrough and St Johnstone midfielder said: “The boys played very well against Dumbarton, we put our bodies on the line.

“It wasn’t the prettiest of games but when we did get the ball down and play I thought we were impressive.

“But it was just one of those one you had to dig out and make sure we came out with the result we wanted.

“The boys are over the moon - it’s a completely different emotion to last year.

“We’re really hungry for it, you can tell, and I can’t wait for [the two legs] this week.

“We’ll prepare as well as we can, make sure our bodies are right and make sure we prepare tactically as well.”
