Danny Ings scores sublime scissor-kick to send Aston Villa ahead against Newcastle

Aston Villa's new striker Danny Ings has begun life at Villa Park in breathtaking fashion after netting an incredible scissor-kick goal to put Villa ahead at home to Newcastle.

Ings played last week in the 3-2 away loss to Watford, netting a 97th minute penalty to mark his debut with a goal which proved to be a consolation.

However today the ex-Burnley, Liverpool and Southampton man stepped up to the mark in front of the home crowd at Villa Park and crashed home a splendid acrobatic effort to announce himself to the Villa faithful.

With the game evenly matched and scoreless just before the break, a long throw in was hurled into the box.

It pinballed around a little bit before it dropped to Ings who was perfectly placed around the penalty spot.

He flung himself at the falling ball and lashed a wickedly powerful strike goalwards which left Freddie Woodman in the Newcastle net no chance of stopping it as it bolted in.

Villa added a second goal through Anwar El Ghazi who scored from the penalty spot and the home side ran out 2-0 winners to give them their first triumph in this year's Premier League.
