Danny Ings admitted that he loves nights at Anfield because of the incredible atmosphere as the former Liverpool striker continues to reach an impasse with Southampton regarding a new contract.
After struggling for regular game time with Liverpool following his move from Burnley in 2015, Ings signed with the Saints on loan in 2018.
One year later, he made his switch permanent, completing a £20million transfer.
Ings has impressed greatly at Southampton, including scoring 22 goals last season, the joint-second-most in the entire division and three more than Mohamed Salah, despite playing 70 fewer minutes.
He is now back in the mix for an England spot and has been linked with a move to a top-six club once again, especially as his contract runs down at St Mary's.
Amidst this potential transfer turmoil, Ings admitted that Anfield nights are unlike any other.
As reported by The Mirror, Ings said that his favourite occasions in football are "at Anfield on a Champions League night."
He added: "The atmosphere there was crazy. I have never experienced an atmosphere like Anfield on a Champions League night."
Ings is in the final 18 months of his Southampton contract after signing a three-year deal in 2019.
Should he continue to refuse a new deal as he has done thus far, the Saints may be forced to sell in the summer in an effort to recoup at least some of the £20m they spent to sign him.
And manager Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted that an agreement has not yet been hashed out, though he added that 18 months is a long time in football.
"There is no agreement. I think these rumours never help anybody. Not the club, not him," he said when asked about Ings' future on talkSPORT.
"If you want to concentrate on your game, it’s always easier to know about your future. It definitely gives you a clearer mind.
"For us, as a club, you always have to think about more scenarios than only this one. This is normal.
"We are not at this point to be honest because we still have one-and-a-half years left. That is a very long time in football."
