Danny Hicks dead: Evil Dead II actor dies after stage 4 cancer diagnosis aged 68

Evil Dead II star Danny Hicks has died at the age of 68 after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

The horror icon had only revealed his diagnosis with stage 4 cancer just four weeks prior to his death.

The actor's most memorable roles include parts in Intruder, Darkman, My Name Is Bruce, and Spider-Man 2.

Hicks' death was announced on YouTube by his company Full Empire Promotions with a tribute video.

The tribute video, posted on Tuesday, noted: "Danny passed away at his home in CA.

"We love you Danny, rest easy my friend. No more pain."

The video's own description also reads: "On June 30, 2020 we lost a friend, client, and talented actor in Danny Hicks.

"Here is our tribute to the star of Evil Dead 2, Intruder, Darkman, and so many other classic horror films. We will miss you Danny!".

The tragic news comes just four weeks after he announced on Facebook that he had a terminal prognosis after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

He wrote in early June: "To all of the people that I never got to meet, and the 6,018 die hard fans that enjoyed my work. I have some bad news.

"I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer," he noted, before revealing, "I have approximately 1 to 3 years to live."

Danny continued: "I gotta tell ya, I sure as hell packed a whole bunch of living into my 68 years.

"I got no change coming back that's for sure. And not too many regrets."

Hicks signed off with a reference to his character's grim end in Evil Dead II.

He concluded: "Ok, gotta go. I'm gunna find out just what in the hell is going on down in that fruit cellar."

The post also directed to a GoFundMe page set up by Hicks' friend Dominic Mancini.

On the page, Mancini wrote: "Whether you admire Danny on screen, were lucky enough to meet him in person at a convention, or just talked to him on social media — we can all agree that Danny is one of the most humble, down to earth, funny, talented, and generous people you will ever meet."

The post continued: "He always gives 100% to his fans and friends, on screen and off screen.

"Now, I am kindly asking that we return that favor and help Danny and his family get through some tough times."

The news of Danny's passing will no doubt come as a shock to his fans, but his memorable movie roles will live on forever.
