Gateshead midfielder Danny Greenfield has completed his two week trial at Sunderland.
The 20-year-old featured for the Black Cats Under-23 side against Wolves and Crystal Palace and impressed on both occasions.
Chronicle Live understands that Gateshead received positive feedback regarding Greenfield's trial, but are yet to receive a formal offer from Sunderland.
The former-Manchester United midfielder has impressed for the Heed this year before their season was curtailed.
His fine form warranted a new deal at the International Stadium - which has tied him down until 2022.
If Sunderland were to make the National League North club an offer for his services then it would require a fairly substantial fee to prize him away from the Tynesiders.
