Danny Green isn’t worried about staying efficient as a 3-point shooter

Aside from the trade for Anthony Davis that cost them their core group of young players, the biggest acquisition for the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason in terms of money was 10-year veteran swingman Danny Green. Green signed with the Lakers for a two-year deal worth $15 million after one year and an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors. And the biggest reason that the Lakers paid him at this point in his career is his consistency from the 3-point line.

Green, a career 40.9 percent 3-point shooter who shot 45% from 3 last season in Toronto, told Spectrum SportsNet that he’s not worried about replicating his career efficiency by playing off of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Playing with LeBron and A.D., and obviously the other great players: Dwight, Kuz, Rondo, A.B. — so many guys we have on this team — and kind of feed off them. They’re going to push the pace, they’re going to create open shots — not just for myself but for them. So, just have fun, push the pace. It’s hard to live up to that again but I’ll try my best to. I’ll try my best to shoot as good as I did last year, if not better, and try to make as many. But like I said, just kind of go and just try to get shots within the offense.

(H/T Silver Screen and Roll)

Green has been a consistent 3-point shooter for the majority of his career and even though his defense may not be what it was during his San Antonio prime, his consistent 3-point shooting will fit nicely next to LeBron, who is routinely at the top of the league in points created via assists.
