Danny Dyer 'wasn't understanding' of his daughter Dani's decision to go on Love Island

Danny Dyer has revealed that he 'wasn't understanding' of his daughter Dani's desire to go on Love Island.

The former EastEnders actor, 44, hated the idea of his daughter being on the popular ITV2 dating show as he feared the outcome.

Despite this, Dani, 25, was adamant about appearing on the show in a bid to find love - and she ultimately ended up finding it with ex-boyfriend Jack Fincham.

The pair went on to win the 2018 series of Love Island, and following her incredible success on the show, Dani's famous dad knew that she had made the right decision.

But he didn't let her head into the famous villa without a fight.

Lifting the lid on his reservations on the latest episode of Sorted With The Dyers podcast, Danny insisted that he couldn't understand why his daughter would want to appear on the show.

"I wasn't that understanding about Love Island," Danny told the podcast.

"I was worried about the show and the concept of it. Dani's version of spreading her wings was to go onto Love Island.

"For me that was a huge shock but of course, that was your decision, and you got it right. You made that decision and you went against me and your mum and you got it right - but it could have gone horrifically wrong."

Danny previously opened up about how he tired to persuade his daughter not to go on the ITV2 show.

"I did tell her not to do it," he said. "You don't encourage your kid to go on Love Island, do you?"

The actor also shared some brutal comments about the show's reputation, and admitted that he feared Dani would be encouraged to have sex on camera.

"Your daughter's encouraged to get with a geezer and possibly have a roll-about on telly," Danny admitted.

But the proud dad's perspective was changed when he watched his daughter act 'with dignity' while in the villa.

"She did it with dignity," he said.

"She did find a geezer, but she didn't do none of that."
