Danny Dyer slams Boris Johnson over Covid lockdowns saying 'Etonians can't run UK'

Danny Dyer has slammed the Tory government and its lockdown rules, calling for working class people to get into politics.

The EastEnders star, 43, said "people who went to Eton can't run this country" and he was looking forward to watching things "unravel".

When he appeared on BBC Breakfast on Wednesday morning he was asked for his thoughts on the current lockdown restrictions.

He said: "My one rant would be that we must learn now that the people who went to Eton can't run this country.

"They've done it, they've tried to do it with this little small group who all went to the same school in the same class, and it doesn't work.

"I feel like some working class people, people who have lived a real life, people that are in touch with what is going on with reality, to maybe come to the front now and start getting involved in how this country's run."

But Danny said he wouldn't be getting involved in politics himself.

He added: "No darling I'm too busy. I've got a gameshow on at the moment, I've got a podcast with my daughter and of course I'm in the greatest soap that's ever been.

"So let's just watch the government unravel themselves, and let's just try and stay safe and not catch this thing.

"On the other side I think we're gonna be better, strong, more considerate people for it."

Danny was on the show with his daughter Dani Dyer, who is expecting her first child.

She revealed her sadness that her mum can't attend her scans with her and said she is worried about not being with her family at Christmas.

Danny agreed, saying:" The idea of potentially not being able to sit around a table with my daughter and my in-laws is crazy talk to me.

"If you're in construction, you can drive your mate in your van sitting next to you to work, but God forbid you go and have a pint with him after. Can't be doing that.

"It's very confusing, it's perfect to break rules really because it's hard to understand what the rules are.

"Just keep them simple and people will abide by it.

"We want to get out of this as quickly as possible, but as confusing as it is, it just makes it so difficult."

It's not the first time Danny has weighed in on politics.

He previous gave a scathing interview about former PM - and Etonian - David Cameron.

In an appearance on Good Morning Britain in 2018, Danny called Cameron a "t**t" - and accusing him of leaving Britain to deal with the consequences of Brexit while he relaxed "with his trotters up".

He raged of the former PM: "So what’s happened to that t**t David Cameron who called it on?...

"How comes he can scuttle off? He called all this on. Where is he?

"He’s in Europe, in Nice, with his trotters up, yeah, where is the geezer? I think he should be held account for it."
