Danny Dyer says grandson was 'second best thing to happen this week' after West Ham win

Danny Dyer became a grandad over the weekend, but he jokingly said he's had even better news this week.

The EastEnders actor, 43, quipped that his football team West Ham winning 3-2 against Crystal Palace was the best thing that happened to him over the last few days.

It comes after his daughter Dani Dyer and her boyfriend Sammy Kimmence welcomed their first child, a baby boy they've called Santiago, on Saturday.

Taking to his Instagram account on Tuesday night, Danny shared a screenshot of the Premiere League table, showing that West Ham were fourth after their big win last night.

Danny captioned the post: "I think I can safely say that having my first beautiful Grandson was the second best thing to happen to me this week.

"Come on you f**king Irons."

He finished the post with three hammer emojis.

Danny's post was clearly made in jest as he previously shared his delight at becoming a grandad.

On Monday he posted a picture of Dani cuddling little Santiago just moments after the baby was born, writing: "So my baby had a baby.

"F**k me we needed some joy this year.

"So proud of you @danidyerxx cannot wait to meet the little beaut."

Dani confirmed the baby's name on their podcast on Wednesday.

She said: "I know you’re all probably wondering what we've called him. There's been a lot of assumptions going on, some are actually really funny to be fair, but his name is Santiago."

The new mum added: "I know a lot of you are probably thinking 'What?!' but that is his name but we are going to be calling him Santi.

"I think it sounds nice on the birth certificate."
