London is set to welcome a dose of Danny Dyer-inspired fun this week, as the actor’s Mr Bigstuff co-stars prepare to host and judge a lookalike contest in his honour.
Contestants are encouraged to bring their best Dyer energy - think leather jackets, pub swagger and a proper East End accent, to the competition taking place on Wednesday, July 23 in Hoxton Square at 1pm.
Actors Ryan Sampson and Harriet Webb, who star alongside Dyer in the Sky comedy series Mr Bigstuff, announced the event over the weekend in a cheeky Instagram video.
“Britain, do you look like Daniel Dyer?” Sampson asked in the clip, before Webb chimed in: “Do you smoke a lot of fags?”
“Do you wear too much leather?” they added. “Do you look anything like this man? If you do, we need you.”
Referencing the growing global trend of celebrity doppelgänger contests, including recent events for Timothée Chalamet in New York, Harry Styles in London, Paul Mescal in Dublin and Pedro Pascal also in New York, Sampson teased: “We’ve had Timothée Chalamet.

“We’ve had Pedro Pascal. Now it’s time for a Danny Dyer lookalike contest on the 23rd of July at 1pm at Hoxton Square.”
“Be there or be, as they say, square,” Webb said, with Sampson quipping back: “Albert Square,” in a nod to Dyer’s long-running role as Mick Carter on EastEnders.
There’s no official word on whether Dyer himself will make a surprise appearance, as Chalamet famously did in New York, but that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping.
“This will be hilarious. Please take loads of pics and upload here for those of us unable to spectate!” wrote one follower on Instagram.
“If @officialdannydyer doesn’t turn up and win with a Wetherspoons routine we riot,” another joked alongside a laughing-face emoji.
One fan asked: “Will the real Danny Dyer be there? I need to know before I drive for 4 hours.” To which Sampson replied: “Me & H judging it, bebe.”
The pair didn’t reveal exactly what prizes are on offer for contestants, aside from the undeniable honour of being named the ultimate Danny Dyer lookalike.
Dyer, meanwhile, is currently filming season two of the Disney+ drama Rivals.
