Danny Dyer is set to become an acting teacher following his shock exit from EastEnders.

The 44-year-old, best known for playing Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in the popular soap, has signed up to give a masterclass for an online drama school called “iampro” on Sunday, May 29.

The subscription-based website offers a range of on-demand short courses, weekly live classes and celebrity masterclasses.

Iampro was co-founded by fellow EastEnders co-star Charlie Brooks, who played Janine Butcher on the show.

A surge of new students are believed to have subscribed to the platform since Dyer’s involvement was announced.

The service took to Instagram to announce the news, writing: “We are mega excited to announce that on the 29th May, actor and presenter @officialdannydyer will be delivering a Masterclass for our members.

“…In 2013, he joined the cast of the BBC soap opera EastEnders, in the role of Mick Carter. He won the Serial Drama Performance award at the National Television Awards in 2015, 2016, and 2019. Danny also presents the hit BBC game show, The Wall.

“More details coming very soon on the class, but for now you can register your place at iampro.com/events or by clicking the link in bio!”

In January, it was announced that Dyer would be leaving EastEnders after 13 years on the show.

Speaking about leaving the show, he said: “I’ve decided not to renew my contract. That’s all. That’s not because I’ve fallen out with anybody – I love everybody.

“That job has been amazing for me. It’s an important part of television. I’m grateful for the beautiful years I’ve had there. I’m going to miss the people massively. It’s me taking a risk.”

However, he hinted his character may be given an ending that leaves the door open for a possible return.

He said: “Let me tell you something – Mick’s exit is going to be a very, very powerful thing. I would love the door to be left open – and as far as I know, it is.

“When I go out there and fail miserably, I can come back with my tail between my legs and go, ‘Will you take me back?’”
