Danny Dyer films new TV show in South Shields after dramatic EastEnders exit

Danny Dyer has been in South Shields to film a new TV series, months on from his dramatic departure from EastEnders.

Millions tuned into BBC One on Christmas Day night to see Danny's character Mick Carter embroiled in a massive storyline, when the truth about how his villainous new wife Janine had framed his ex and childhood sweetheart Linda for a drink driving incident that she actually staged in the hope that Linda would end up behind bars and away frrom Mick.

As most secrets tend to be in Albert Square, the truth came out round the dinner table in the Queen Vic, with Janine's own daughter Scarlett, after the unearthing of an incriminating photo with Janine in the background, throwing her mum under the bus by spilling the beans.

Knowing the game was up for her, a desperate Janine fled Walford in the car, with Mick and Linda giving chase all the way to Dover, when disaster struck when Janine, who'd gotten in her car to confront her, plunging off a cliff and into the sea. Mick threw himself into the icy waters to firtstly rescue Janine, who was pregnant with his child, before going back in for Linda, not realising she had managed to pull herself from the sunken car and swim to shore.

Mick never emerged from the sea and to this day has still to be found, fuelling theories from EastEnders fans that Danny could be set for a 'Harold from Neighbours' style return in the future.

But for now Danny is being kept busy by filming for an, as yet unnamed new documentary, which has taken him to South Shields. Danny and his team booked a space in the seaside town's Dunes arcade and bowling alley, with staff delighted by his arrival.

Speaking to ChronicleL:ive, a Dunes staff member said: "His team hired a space to do some filming. But, while we knew it was a project he was leading, we had no confirmation he was actually going to turn up here. We thought he might have just been doing the voiceover for it."

Full of praise for how Danny was with everyone, they added: "He was great. All the staff had their pictures taken with him and he had time for everyone. He was really nice and very approachable."

A Northumbrian Water employee also grabbed a selfie with Danny after spotting him outside the Duns. The well known local firm tweeted the picture out from their account and wrote: "You wouldn’t Adam and Eve who our John bumped into yesterday while working in South Shields! It was only this proper geezer, Danny Dyer!

"He was having a butchers about the place for a new documentary he’s filming coming out in the summer and chatted to our John for a bit!"
