Beloved Hollywood star Danny DeVito has expressed interest in voicing the iconic Nintendo character, Wario, in the upcoming film The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2. In a recent interview, DeVito discussed various rumored roles, including Phil in Disney's Hercules live-action remake, and indicated his openness to taking on the role of Wario alongside Chris Pratt's portrayal of Mario.

DeVito, known for his charismatic personality, humorously mentioned that he would consider the role but emphasized that it would come at a cost. With a nod to the success of the first Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed $1.36 billion worldwide, DeVito jokingly stated that he would expect compensation from Pratt and the studio if they wanted him to play Mario's adversary.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, features an ensemble cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and other talented actors in key roles such as Toad, Donkey Kong, and Kamek.

The film follows the adventures of Mario and Luigi as they navigate a magical world after being transported through a mysterious pipe. The sequel, slated for release on April 3, 2026, promises to expand the franchise and explore the rich universe of Nintendo characters, as hinted by Pratt's enthusiasm for potential future installments.

DeVito, currently starring in the mystery comedy Poolman alongside Chris Pine, is set to reprise his role as Frank Reynolds in the upcoming 17th season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Fans eagerly anticipate his potential involvement in The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 and the dynamic he would bring to the character of Wario.
